Emma’s Breast Augmentation Gave Her the Body Shape She Always Wanted

December 2, 2016
Emma

Emma lacked confidence in her shape as she was unhappy with the size of her breasts in relation to the rest of her body. She decided to meet with Mr Chan, consultant plastic surgeon at Blackrock Clinic in Dublin, to discuss a breast augmentation procedure and find out what it would involve, as well as what results she could expect.

As with every patient, Mr Chan listened carefully to Emma as she explained her dissatisfaction with her breast size, and advised her on the best options for her, followed by an extensive

examination and discussion in which he outlined what he considered the best course of action to take, and why.

‘Mr Chan could not have been more attentive throughout the whole process,’ Emma says. ‘He gave me great confidence in him.’

It is important for all patients considering breast augmentation to understand that the procedure requires thinking in multiple dimensions rather than just focusing on the shape of the implant.

As Mr Chan says: ‘A well selected implant requires more than just the measurable dimensions of base width, height, projection and size. It must be in good equilibrium with all the soft tissues of the patient, and fit well with the aesthetic ideal for that individual patient.’

As each patient is different, Mr Chan is focused on ensuring he provides a unique and personalised assessment to each person he sees, saying: ‘The approach and surgical planning for breast augmentation also differs between young patients, patients with aging breasts and patients who have experienced significant weight loss.’

After the consultation with Emma and full physical examination, he advised her on what would be the best fit for her. As there is anatomical asymmetry of the breasts in many women, Mr Chan always makes sure to outline these features and explain to patients that such asymmetry will remain after surgery so that as well as providing attention to detail, the patient will know what to expect and won’t be left disappointed post-procedure.

Emma was in fact delighted with the results of the procedure, and is now much more confident in her overall body shape.

‘Now I have the bust to match my hips, giving me the hourglass shape that I always wanted. The results were even better than I could have wished for and I highly recommend Mr Chan,’ she says.

The post-procedure treatment and aftercare for breast augmentation patients is very important, and Emma was very pleased both with Mr Chan’s great care and attention, and with that of the staff at the clinic.

‘All the staff at the Blackrock Clinic were extremely friendly and professional. I was very well looked after there,’ she adds.
