Non-Surgical Facial Rejuvenation with Reversible Botox and Fillers that Help You Stay Looking Young

December 29, 2016
Non Surgical 1

For some people, the aging process can really impact on their self-esteem. The face begins to lose that plump freshness we have in our youth and those fine lines start to settle into wrinkles. In some cases these lines can, essentially, alter the expression entirely.

A furrow between the eyebrows can result in a cross or disgruntled expression, deep marionette lines (lateral lines that run from either side of the mouth down the chin, suggesting a wooden puppet appearance - hence the name) can give the face a dour or sad expression.

There are of course many treatments that can help reduce the signs of aging, from significant surgical procedures such as a rhytidectomy or facelift to non-invasive options in the area of non- surgical facial rejuvenation. For example, Botox and fillers, or a combination of both, can be very effective in restoring freshness and smoothness to the skin.

We are a long way past the days of frozen foreheads and over-filled lips; when administered by a proper professional, who takes the whole aesthetic of the patient’s features into account, the results can appear very natural. The aim is not to look like you’ve ‘had work done’ but to look like a fresher, more relaxed version of yourself.

Fillers

Fillers address the loss of natural collagen and elastin in the skin, which occurs as we age. Hyaluronic acid is particularly effective when it comes to addressing this issue, adding subtle volume by filling in lines and wrinkles. There are a number of brands available including Restylane, Juvederm and Teosyeal. The filler is injected via a very small needle and results can be seen immediately. Results can last for up to a year and a half.

Along with being less significant and invasive than surgery, fillers can, despite the common perception, actually be reversed, and I would recommend choosing a cosmetic surgeon who uses reversible aesthetic products.

Non Surgical 2

A product called hyaluronidase can be used to dissolve hyaluronic fillers, returning the face to its original appearance.

While this is a helpful aspect, particularly in the case of unexpected results or over-filling, the best way to ensure good results is to select a fully qualified and properly accredited practitioner to carry out any work. They should explain everything fully, so that you know what to expect, and what the outcome should be.

There are also semi-permanent fillers available. However, to reverse any procedure would require steroids. This is why it is important to have a full consultation before undergoing any treatment, no matter how minor, to understand every aspect of what a treatment involves.

Botox

Botox is actually a brand name for the botulinum toxin, a purified protein that is administered via injection to temporarily relax the facial muscles that cause lines and wrinkles. There are a number of brands on the market.

Used primarily to soften moderate lines and wrinkles, there is no downtime with a Botox treatment, though there may be some slight bruising immediately after the procedure. Results tend to last from four to six months. Botox can also be effective as a pre-emptive treatment for lines and wrinkles.

As the cosmetic surgery and medical industries advance, treatments are becoming easier and safer to administer, and effective and natural-looking in their results. A proper consultation may open up lots of new options for someone considering a procedure to minimise the appearance of aging and restore a youthful glow.
