Body Contouring Procedures To Give You The Silhouette You Want This Summer

Contouring

Summer always brings with it thoughts of holidays, time outside and (safely) enjoying the sun, but for many, this can bring up self-esteem issues too. Long-standing concerns about an aspect of your body, or the changes that pregnancy or severe weight loss bring can all impact on how good you feel about yourself and your appearance, and you may be looking into ways to help you enhance your natural beauty or get your shape back.

Obviously, body contouring surgery is not something to enter into lightly - and many procedures require significant downtime - but it is good to be aware of some of the options if this is something you might be considering.

Advances in techniques and surgery mean that it is possible to get very good results with treatments for a host of issues. From stubborn areas of fat that give an uneven silhouette to breast augmentation - or reduction - it is now easier than ever to help people obtain the physique they desire or used to have before time and life took its toll. Here, I have outlined some of the more popular procedures that can help restore or bring an aesthetic symmetry to the body and help you feel great about yourself again.

Liposuction

This is one treatment that can be used in quite a number of areas. In general, it is best for those stubborn, tricky areas that just don't seem to improve despite a healthy diet and fitness regime. With liposuction (often referred to as lipo) it is possible to smooth out bumpy areas, restore contours and give a more defined silhouette. Common areas that can be treated include the tummy, thighs, bottom and even the chin. It can also be combined with other procedures to achieve satisfactory results.

Abdominoplasty

An increasingly popular procedure, an abdominoplasty or tummy tuck targets the stomach area. This can be an issue for a lot of people, from men struggling with a paunch to women who have gone through childbirth and now have excess skin that can really impact on their self-confidence. The surgery helps to tighten and smooth the stomach area, taking away excess skin if necessary and sculpting the muscle to give a more defined appearance. It can also be combined with liposuction.

Brachioplasty

The upper arms can be a concern for a lot of men and women. An excess of skin here and/or lack of muscle definition can result in what's often called a ‘bat wing’. Being self-conscious about this area can have an effect on how comfortable a person feels about exposing their arms, which of course in summer can have a big impact. An arm lift - also known as a brachioplasty - tackles this by taking away the loose skin and helps to leave the arms smoother, slimmer and more defined.

Breast reduction or augmentation

For a woman, being happy with the size and shape of her breasts can be essential for her confidence and self-esteem. Whether a woman thinks their chest is too large or too small, it is possible to address their concerns.

Breast augmentation is one of the most common procedures I perform and with advances in imaging (such as the Crisalix 3d imaging device) it is possible to plan out the best results for a patient and allow them to see how the finished results may look, before they decide on the procedure.

Similarly, a large chest can be an issue for some - not to mention a cause of health concerns - but it is very possible to reduce the chest to a more manageable size that works in harmony with the rest of the body. In all cases, ensuring the results work well aesthetically with the patient's body shape and size is the key to good results.
